I Can't Believe it's True!

Would you believe that cow farts contribute to air pollution! I read this article (see link below) about these cows in Callifornia.

The article states that: "The San Joaquin Valley is home to a thriving dairy industry that includes some 2.5 million cattle. With more new dairy operations planned, an additional 400,000 cows are expected to arrive in the valley within the next few years.

But the dairyland is also known for its smog. Over the last six years the valley has violated the federal limit on smog levels more often than any other region in the country. "The valley air basin harbors some of the worst air quality in the entire country, and on far too many days air quality is unhealthy," said Kelly Hogan Malay of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District."

Does that mean that cows contribute to Global Warming?

Hi Grade 6M,
Your first eLearning task is to make a post about your group's inquiry. You need to put the title, theme, central idea and your inquiries into.

After that you need to do some internet research about your first inquiry. I would like you to write 200 words and make sure you inlcude a bibliography. I think that you should aim to have at least 3 different resources. Please inlcude a couple of pictures.

Finally, post a comment using your best netiquette on 5 of your friend's blogs.

We agree to abide by the following essential agreements below:

1. Never put your phone numbers, full name or house address in your blogs.
2. Always use your best manners (netiquette – internet manners) when posting messages on your friend's blogs and using emails.
3. Tell your parents and Mrs Jane or Ibu Maytha if you get any strange comments posted on your blog or sent to you by email that you don't understand or make you feel uncomfortable.
4. Never tell anyone your password (except Mum and Dad! - they should know)
5. Remember to keep safe on the Internet by trashing spam without opening it or emptying your bulk folder regularly.
6. The information on the Internet can be true and false so don't believe everything - use your own inquiry skills by asking other people and checking your sources.
7. Always ask Mum and Dad first before going on line.
8. Only post free animations and images. Make sure that you don't use something from a CD unless it is a free image. You don't want to break copyright!
9. Write using your own words - don't copy and paste! Always include an alphabetical bibliography.
10. Consider carefully what personal photos you publish on your blogs as the Internet can be accessed by anyone.

Failure to follow these agreements will lead to the following consequences:
· A hard warning (depending on the severity of the action)
· Out of the eLearning program.
· Termination of the whole eLearning program.
